Professional Background
Dr. Boris Boincean is an accomplished expert in sustainable farming systems and agroecology. He is the Head of the Department of Sustainable Farming Systems at the National Center for Research and Seed Production and a professor at the State University “Alecu Russo” in Balti. Dr. Boincean has an extensive background in coordinating national and international research programs, including projects within the EU Horizon 2020 framework. He has made significant contributions to the field of agriculture through his work on organic farming, seed production, and ecological agriculture.
Dr. Boincean holds a Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences from the Moscow Agricultural Academy by name of K.A. Timiriazev. He has also achieved the status of Doctor Habilitate and is an Academician of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Protection Sciences from Sankt Petersburg. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including prizes from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova for excellence in research.
Dr. Boincean has been involved in various international collaborations, including projects on sustainable farming systems with universities in Italy and Romania, and has participated in multiple Fulbright programs in the USA. His professional experience includes serving on editorial boards of scientific journals and being a country representative for scientific programs at the European Community in Brussels.

Dr. Boincean's vision is to advance sustainable agricultural practices and ecological farming systems in Moldova. He aims to promote innovative research, effective seed production, and the adoption of sustainable farming techniques to ensure food security and environmental sustainability.
Role at the MIT-Center
Dr. Boincean provides expert guidance in sustainable agriculture and agroecology to support the MIT-Center's research and development initiatives. He leverages his extensive research experience and international collaborations to foster innovation and support on funding activities for the center's projects.
