The lost trust of local students and their parents, lack of appropriate training for teaching staff,
low quality of learning materials and a low number of graduates – all these issues led us to the idea of creating the first hybrid learning campus in Moldova. Within the local environment, it will be the isle of high-quality education based on modern teaching trends, up-to-date contents and equipment and, which is the most important, on students’ needs.
To create the new campus, we have studied the leading educational models from the USA and Europe and decided to implement the most successful ideas and concepts in our project. Thus, the ITSI project from Switzerland serves as the basis for design of the campus itself, including the number and dimensions of the rooms, their destination and equipment used. Other international partners, such as J-WEL and AECT from the USA, Hochschule Dual from Germany and other universities, will participate both directly and indirectly in many processes within the campus, be it designing the curricula or selecting appropriate contents and teaching methods.
Also, international experts from these partnering parties will be invited to the Moldovan campus in order to share experience and train local teaching staff. These international experts will then be assisted by a double number of national educators who in the meantime will get vocational training as Learning Coaches and will learn how to implement digital learning content, how to use modern resources in learning, as well as motivation and trouble-shooting skills.
Another important factor is that MIT-Center combines dual education (combination of studies and work) and hybrid learning (combination of classic approach and digital learning) – two leading trends that have proven their efficiency worldwide. So, there will be three main actors in this educational process: students, university and company. The student will be enrolled at the university and will have official employment at the company. Meanwhile, there will also be a contract between university and company, which means that all three parties will be in direct cooperation and will work together on constant development and improvement.
